Today we'll work in groups with chapters 7 and 8 to get a sense of the Marquis de Evremonde. Each group will bring to life one moment from this list:
- The carriage of the Marquis kills a child
- Gaspard's reaction and interaction with the Marquis
- The reaction of the Defarges
- The Marquis, the mender of roads, and Gabelle
- The Marquis and the old woman
Then, we'll spend a few moments looking at these summary sites:
With your group, look at what these sites have to say about chapters 7 and 8. Then, compare/contrast them with what we did in class today as well as the actual details of the chapter. What do they add? What do they leave out?
